The ShyZip Fastener System and ZipScreen Blinds are produced by Rollease Acmeda, one of Australia’s largest Blinds design and manufacturing companies. The Shy Zip system has commonly been referred to as an internal Zip Block Out Roller Blind system often called Shy Zip. Rollease Acemda has had a strong leadership on providing quality and variety in outdoor shading systems and sunshade blinds.

Zipscreen offers a refined look. The class-leading soft lift springs, crank operated gearbox and motorisation control options allow the product to suit a variety of home and commercial applications.

Below we outline what the ShyZip Fastener System is all about, how it can be incorporated into your alfresco living spaces and the value and functionality it provides.

How does it work?

The ShyZip Fastener System provides a Zipscreen blind that can fully enclose a window or opening. Containing the fastener system hardware with quality blind fabric and material to provide a rolling blind.  The ShyZip spline is welded at each end of the top of the blind to a holding bar. This blind is wrapped around an aluminium tube at the tope that is encased in a square box holder.

Along the sides of the blind are channel slides, consisting of both an inner and outer channel that is attached to the window post or wall. The blind is held within these channels which acts as a guide for the blind to slides up and down within. Along the bottom of the blind, a weight-bar rail is attached. The new Ultra-Lock weight bar seal achieves greater coverage on uneven floors and spaces when the blind is fully drawn down.

Using ‘zLOCK’ technology that locks the fabric into a patented side-channel design, your blind is sure to hold taut.

Choice of Design

The ZipScreen Blind comes in a range of fabrics and materials including shade-weave mesh, blockout privacy mesh and clear or tinted PVC. The fabric chosen will depend on the level of visibility and element protection you seek for the space. In addition, you can also choose to have enclosed head-box covers or hoods, as well as a variety of custom powder-coated colours to match and complement your outdoor living area.

Are ZipScreen Blinds see-though?

All Zipscreen blinds are see-through, although you can achieve different levels of visibility depending on the mesh. For instance, with a 1% openness mesh, this has a tighter weave and therefore blocks out more sunlight, wind, rain and view. Alternatively, the 5% openness mesh allows more light through and greater visibility. In addition, we also have a PVC fabric which is completely see-through and can provide greater wind and rain protection. However, bear in mind as a clear PVC it does need frequent cleaning to maintain a good appearance.

What dimensions can the ZipScreen Blind cover?

Zipscreen Blinds can generally cover a space of up to 5.8 metres wide and a 4 metre drop. If you have a space larger than this, the Zipscreen Extreme is also an option. It can cover areas up to 7 metres wide and 5 metre drop. The Zipscreen Extreme is a heavy duty screen made using commercial grade stainless steel components and is motorised for ease of use.

Are ZipScreen Blinds effective in strong winds?

Zipscreen Blinds are wind resistant, however they are not designed to stop strong winds. We recommend, to prevent potential damage to your blind, that the blinds be raised during strong winds or storms.
